Joram Obak

Joram Obak is a spiritual leader, Hebrew teacher, and chazan from Kwania, Northern Uganda, serving the Kwania Jewish Community. He is a new contributor to African Jewish Voices, bringing his perspective on Jewish life in Northern Uganda to a wider audience. In addition to his work in education and religious leadership, Joram is an agriculturalist with hands-on experience in crop farming and animal husbandry, and currently works as a professional driver. A committed lifelong learner, he aspires to advance his education in veterinary medicine and hopes to attend a Yeshiva to further deepen his knowledge and serve his community. For two years and counting, he has been an active member of the Abayudaya Rabbinic Assembly, with a vision to fill the rabbinic vacuum in his northernmost community and strengthen Jewish continuity in the region.
